Today is a day to remember your deepest identity—one made in the image and likeness of God. To be made in his image is to be given the command from God in the Garden of Eden: fill the earth (Gen 1:28). With what are we to fill the earth? With our very selves: we are made to be “the spiritual monstrance of God, wherein the glory of God would break out into the whole creation, shining like a radiant spiritual light in the midst of the physical world” (The Light of Christ, 112). We are to manifest the glory of God to all the earth. We who know the source of all goodness are to be the voice of thanksgiving that rises to God in the midst of the world.
So, today we magnify the Lord with Mary. Today we bless the God of all, who has done wondrous things on earth. We must let the whole world know of the glory of our God, who has bestowed on his children every good thing. Great is the Lord and highly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable!
He fosters people’s growth from their mother’s womb, continually showering down grace upon his beloved. We have fled to him crying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!”, and every time the Lord has heard. Indeed, he has never left us lacking in any spiritual gift, not even the blood of his Son. In turn, we give thanks for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus.
Today, let us rejoice in what God has done for us. Let us fall at the feet of Jesus in thanks, glorifying God in a loud voice that all may hear.
